In addition to private practice, Dr. Toback enjoys teaching others about his passion of periodontics
He was an appointed faculty at UCONN School of Dental Medicine from 1998 – 2007. As an assistant clinical professor during that time, he spent one day per week providing clinical and lecture instruction to dental students and periodontal residents. He now returns to UCONN as a guest lecturer and instructor as his schedule permits. Dr. Toback frequently lectures on a variety of surgical topics at dental meetings, to dental societies, hygienist societies and dental study clubs. Most recently, Dr. Toback has lectured extensively on computer guided implant surgery, and the use of three-dimensional imaging in diagnostic planning.
Dr. Toback has authored papers in major periodontal and dental implant journals. In addition, he holds a certificate and license to provide services in conscious sedation. Treating patients with anxiety and apprehension holds special interest for Dr. Toback. He is the only periodontist in eastern Connecticut licensed to provide these services. He has advanced training in medical emergencies and holds a certificate in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Dr. Toback is certified to treat patients in a wide range of procedures. For gum recession, he can use the Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST) to correct the gum line. For gum disease Dr. Toback is certified with LANAP, or the Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure, to treat gum disease within the periodontal pockets around your teeth. If you are looking for a more advanced form of orthodontics such as Wilkodontics, he is also certified in that.
Dr. Toback is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is also a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association, Connecticut Dental Society, Connecticut Society of Periodontics, and New London County Dental Society.
In 2006, Dr. Toback was invited to join the S.C.P.P. (Society for Contemporary and Progressive Periodontists). This select group of 12 leading periodontists from across the nation was developed to provide objective evaluation of new research and technology. In addition, the S.C.P.P. developed customized computer software that will allow the 12 members to combine clinical research data on dental implants and bone regeneration, in a way never before possible.Talk to US About an Appointment
